The Devbhoomi of India and the state with prehistoric existence “Uttarakhand” is our pride and full of myriad natural brilliance of the Himalayas and the Terai corner.
This beautiful land which was ruled by Pauravas, Kushanas, Kunindas, Guptas, Katyuris, Palis, the Chands, Parmars. The British couldn’t get the true freedom even after independence because it was then suppressed by consequences of being just a corner part of a largely populated and extended state.
The people of hill region couldn’t get the scope of opportunity which it would surely get by being a separate republic state. This was because it didn’t possess equal importance and good administration.
“With time comes need and with need comes struggles, and stories of determination and success”
So happened with then known Uttaranchal(now Uttarakhand). With the demand for statehood and development of hill region, struggles and sacrifices the formation of separate was gradually seeing hope.
Even the traditional rivals Garhwal and Kumaon kingdoms for the sake of statehood and the inseparable bond of nature, geography and culture got united and this unity formed the basis of struggle for having a separate identity of Uttarakhand.
The struggles of various activist groups like Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, fast-unto-death swear by leaders and determination of Uttarakhandi people led to the formation of Uttarakhand on 9 November, 2000. On that day Uttarakhand rose as the new and 27th republic state of India(then it was known as Uttaranchal).
And the Devbhoomi got an identity!

The state which is protected by the hand of 33 crores of Devi Devtas, known as the 'Devhoomi' - meaning : ''The Land of Gods". We have the privilege of having Chardham Yatra as main event, Shakti peeth, rich natural resources, good education status, five prayags, hill queen Moussoorie, famous sikh shrine Hemkund Sahib, herbal and medicinal treasure. What we lack then??
We lack that spirit which our state really felt during its struggle. Where is that passion of rising and developing the hill area? Most of the population is giving priority to life of plains. Where is that statehood?
We should have proud on our rich spiritual and natural treasure. We should fulfill the promises which bind us to our beautiful and beautiful land “Uttarakhand”. We are the youth of Uttarakhand we have the responsibility to develop it and provide it that importance which it deserves.
